Global Warming Consequences: by US State, by Country, by College

When sea levels grow, it will drown out all of the coastal cities. Too bad Florida, you will be under water unless something is done quickly.

Bangkok Under Water in 20 Years

Bangkok is the 13th largest city and it is at risk of being swamped as sea levels rise in the coming decades, according to warnings at the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

"This is what the future will look like in many places around the world," says Lisa Schipper, an American researcher on global warming, while visiting the temple. "Here is a living study in environmental change."

"Even with a small sea level rise, we're going to destroy whole nations and their cultures that have existed for thousands of years." said Jonathan Overpeck, director of the Institute for the Study of Planet Earth at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
Over the past century, sea level over much of the United States has risen by 25 to 30 centimeters relative to land, according to Jim Titus, the Environmental Protection Agency's project manager on sea level rise. Even that figure is a guesstimate, Titus says. "We only know that sea level last century rose more than average over the last several thousand years." (Source).
"Over the last century, sea level has risen by between 8 and 40 inches along different regions of the Gulf Coast, due to thermal expansion of the oceans and substantial local sinking of land. Taking into account continued land sinking, scientists predict that sea level along the Gulf Coast is likely to rise by another 15 to 40 inches by 2100." (Source).
